The other day i was walking along and small car flashed past me , i figured another courrier in a hurry ? it reminded me of a job i had years ago as a courrier for a typesetting company , i would drive around and a beeper would go off and tell me where to pick up a rough layout for a newspaper advert. This was in the 80’s before computers were common, so after i picked the rough layout i would return it to the office where a team of typestters were working in a room at a frantic pace. The ad would then be returned to the advertising agency to be approved or perhaps more adjustmments ? as you can imagine this did take a while from start to finish, no cut and paste in those days or photoshop. As time went by i left the job and a couple of years later i drove past the office where i had worked as a typesetters courrier, it was gone by then , it seems technology haad taken over , although the typesettting industry was still about , the mainstay of the business (advertising firms) were now using their own computers and the internet to do their business and changes to adverts.
As i drove about in the typesetting courrier car i noticed that many other cars were also doing courrier type work and quite often they were going from the office blocks in St Kilda rd to the City and then maybe back to the office blocks. It occured to me that maybe i could be doing a ‘mail run’ exclusive to this area and i would just find a set amount of clients to service and have a stable work day. I started to make plans and as i got closer to really having a go, something changed the way many businnesses were handling their documents ?? …. the fax was invented ! and i never bothered with the exclusive courrier service idea , and although it may have had some success there was no doubt this new piece of technology was taking over. Yes the fax was a godsend for businesses needing quick communtication methods and perhaps a legal signature on a document, this was just another example of technology taking over.
The house where i am living is being sold and the other day the owner knocked on the door and said the photographer is here, i looked out the front door and noticed a 4wd and a long enclosed trailer, a gent got out and walked to the back of the trailer, then opened up the doors and the next thing i heard the sound of an air compressor ? and i gotta admit i was slightly confused at this point. What is going on ? is he the photographer or not. I continued to watch and about 20 minutes later it appeared, as i watched a 20-25 ft balloon which looked like a Zepplin balloon from the early 20th century was manoeuvred from the back of the trailer and connected was a line of thin rope. Now it was starting to make sense, yes the photographer was here. He was here to take an aerial photo of the house and land from above, and with that he slowly released the balloon into the air and as the wind took in to the best position he snapped away via remote control. He soon lowered the balloon down and released the helium as it was positioned back into the trailer. It occurred to me you just never know how some people make their money ? The house owner said to me that the photographer was due the day before but had to cancel because of the high winds, next thing i knew there was a man inside the house with an laser light to do the floor plan, again another example of how people make a living in our world.
So you got your website up and running (finally) everyone else is doing it and some even get some money from doing it ….. but how ? The answer is affilaite marketing because that’s what makes the internet go around, nearly every site you look at is promoting something, so a blogger/website opporater is called a publisher and a person/business supplying goods and services are called the merchant and the middleman is the affiliate company and as time goes by there are many many affiliate companies on the internet and you can easily lose a day just trying to check them all out. It’s get’s very confusing and can put you off even trying. Yes there is also the option of google ads on your site but affiliates normally do well if using specific banners for the topics they are writing about because the banners are quite visual and inviting to click on. As i said it’s hard to get all the best info and much time can be lost trying to set it all up. So when i was doing some searching the other day i came across the ad below and i really think it was worth sharing, it seemed like a good learning idea and perhaps a way to save some time. So if you are going to start a blog site or website (who isn’t these days) it may be worth looking into this idea just to save a whole lot of time and get a good start on your new venture ! … (it’s worth a look at least)
